General Aftercare Guidelines:
- Avoid Exercise: Refrain from exercising for one week post-procedure, as sweating can expel pigment from the skin, leading to undesired results.
- Keep the Area Dry: Avoid direct showering on the treated area and prevent it from getting or staying wet.
- Gentle Cleansing: Clean around the pigmented areas without using soaps or facial cleansers directly on them. Pat dry with a clean towel.
- No Makeup: Do not apply makeup on the pigmented area during the healing process (10–14 days).
- Avoid Picking: Do not rub, scratch, or pick any crust that forms along the tattooed area, as early removal can result in color loss.
- Limit Sun Exposure: Avoid sun exposure, including tanning beds, during the healing process.
- Avoid Certain Products: Do not apply exfoliants or products containing AHA/glycolic acid to the tattooed area for at least two weeks.
Specific Aftercare Instructions:
- Eyebrows: Your eyebrows may appear thicker and darker for up to 10 days post-procedure until any scab peels off. The area might be reddish and tender; be gentle and consistently apply the provided aftercare product as instructed.
- Eyeliner: Expect swelling for up to three days, similar to the appearance after crying. To reduce swelling, apply ice several times daily (approximately 10 minutes) over the first three days. Before applying ice, place plastic wrap over your eye area. Avoid using mascara or eye shadow for the first 10 days, and do not disturb the lash roots.
- Lips: Your lips will look intense and may become swollen for 2–4 days, depending on the individual. Usually, the scab will peel off after 4–6 days. During this time, the color will look quite pale, with only the lip line showing a light color. Be patient until the skin matures, which takes about 1–2 months, to see a more natural result. If you have ever had cold sores, fever blisters, or herpes, you must obtain a prescription for antiviral medication from your doctor, starting three days prior and continuing four days post-procedure. Use a straw to drink for the first few days and avoid spicy or salty foods for 2–3 weeks.
Long-Term Care:
- Sun Protection: Use a good sunscreen daily on tattooed areas to prevent faster fading.
- Touch-Ups: Our pigment is iron-oxide-based, which your body slowly absorbs, causing the color to fade over time. You may desire touch-ups every 1–3 years to maintain the desired appearance.
- Medical Procedures: If planning a chemical peel, MRI, or other medical procedures, inform the technician about your iron-oxide cosmetic tattoo.
- Laser Treatments: If considering laser treatment, inform your specialist to avoid the pigmented area, as laser exposure may cause pigment to darken.
Healing Process Overview:
- Initial Appearance: Your permanent makeup will appear darker and more prominent than expected for the first 10 days.
- Swelling and Tenderness: Swelling and tenderness are normal, varying by treatment area.
- Scabbing and Peeling: The treated area may form scabs that peel off naturally; do not force the peeling process.
- Color Evolution: The color may appear lighter after initial healing but will stabilize over 4–6 weeks (8 weeks for lips) to reveal the final result.
